Mercies new every Morning

As I walked out onto the pier and along the beach at the Women’s Retreat, I was impressed with the vastness of the ocean. It went on ‘forever’, and its waves on the beach were so predictable. Their ceaseless rolling onto the sand, one after another, each wave a little different, but each wave covering the beach.

And my mind went to the verse in Lamentations 3. Remember, this verse was written by the Prophet Jeremiah. He had just spent a considerable amount of time in a pit, a prisoner of a wicked king. This prophet, perhaps more than others, recognized the depth of the ugly stubbornness of man and his refusal to embrace the love of God. Read the book of Jeremiah sometime….God pleading with his people to come, reason, accept forgiveness. “Why not enjoy My love?” God asks His people.

And Jeremiah write in 3:2-23:

The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Like the waves breaking from the vast ocean upon the shoreline….so is God’s mercy breaking upon our lives. Stop and look at the Mercy Waves in your life today. It will refresh your spirit, and fill you with song.
