AWANA
AWANA stands for “Approved Workmen are not Ashamed”. It comes from the verse in II Timothy 2:15, where the aged Apostle Paul is encouraging a young man named Timothy to set his goals high. “Study, focus yourself, keep a clear eye for the approval of God,” he says. “If you are spiritually correct, then you do not need to be ashamed in any of your living.” (This is a loose translation….read the whole passage for yourself. II Timothy 2:1-26)
Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. The programs are for all ages. Each week, more than one million kids ages 2 to 18 participate in Awana. Over 12,000 churches in the U.S. and 7,600 internationally run Awana programs that change young lives through biblical truth.
Our weekly meetings are held on Sunday afternoons, 5:00pm. Time is spent in games, in Bible memory, in Bible stories, in mission work and in refreshments. Each year we have fun in competing with the AWANA groups of area churches in what is called the AWANA Olympics. This year we ran off with the prized cup!
