Ethiopia

“How beautiful are the feet of him that brings good news, that broadcasts peace…” (Isaiah 52:7)

There is much division in today’s world. This division has spread to the Lord’s church. But here at Bethel Hill we are working hard to acknowledge the reality of our unity under the Cross of Jesus. This unity spans economic variations, language barriers, political difference, and generational bounds. There is one Cross, one Savior, one Authority, one Purpose for the Kingdom….and one day we will all be around one Throne!

One expression of our unity in the Gospel, under the Cross of Jesus Christ, is our partnership with the Lord’s Church in southern Ethiopia. Combining with other churches in the Roxboro/Durham area, we are helping the local churches in southern Ethiopia to reach Ethiopians for Christ. Our role is not to plant new churches; our role is to help the existing churches, so that “there might be equality” (as the Apostle Paul put it).

We are distributing Bibles & eyeglasses, where Bibles & eyeglasses cannot be obtained. We have assisted in funding large-scale projects that are beyond the means of the subsistence farmers of this area in Ethiopia. We are currently developing an Audio Bible Teaching program, utilizing solar-powered loudspeakers and hand-wound SD players. And another big project is assisting the church in operating a rural clinic for the purpose of evangelism in highly Muslim areas.

Not only do we send money and pray, we also go ourselves! Each year a segment of our Family volunteers to travel the long distance to sleep on the floors of rural churches, and to use their gifts & abilities to help their brethren. A sure bond of love has developed between these churches and Bethel Hill…..in fact, you could say we are One Family!
